If your child has sickness and/or diorrhoea they must stay away from pre school/woodies for 48 hours after their last symptom. Chicken pox - children can return when ALL spots are dried up. Headlice - once treatment has been given. If in doubt contact Pre-School/Woodies or your GP.
Its is advisable to keep children away from the setting when they have coughs and colds as not only does infection spread but it is also unpleasant for the child themselves.
The Guidance on Infection Control in Schools and Nurseries is produced by the Health Protection Agency and the Department of Health. It gives guidance on the most common infectious diseases and the recommended periods for which children should be kept away from school or nursery. Taking preventative measures such as vaccinating children and following good hygiene practice are the best ways to prevent the spread of infections.
